Default 2-Way Monitor with Waveguide- Any Comments

Hi,

I thought some of you maybe interested in previewing a pair of commercial speakers with a waveguide mounted tweeter.

The speakers are from Amphion Speakers, model:Amphion Argon3L, a detailed review can be found here:
Amphion Argon3L Loudspeakers

and measured performance from here:
NRC Measurements: Amphion Argon3L Loudspeakers

Please note the following:

1. Very Good to excellent reviews from the reviewer
2. From the FR curve there is a bump(+3 to 4dB) around 750Hz would serious effect the
mid range performance
3. On axis is not flat to 20Khz, even has a sharp drop off after 5KHz.
4. Directivity performance is not that great
5. To cap it off a pair would cost you about $3,650-$4,000

The bottom line is would you buy these speakers? Would any DIYers build a pair of speakers with this kind of measured performance? The decision is yours. I won't.

From the company's website: "1" Integrator titanium-dome tweeter and a 6.5" aluminum midrange-woofer cone, both made by SEAS, of Norway, and in both models crossed over at 1600Hz -- though the Argon3L uses what Anssi Hyvönen describes as "in principle a second-order crossover..."

There is almost nothing I like about the components used, xo, cabinet design, but without hearing it, we have no idea what they sound like, for all we know, they could sound pretty decent, but the the specs just leave me cold... For similar price, you can get the Gadlee Nathan... A well proven design, but I have not heard it myself, so again just going by the specs...
