Losfer words? ;) This is the most interesting thing I've ever seen in a long time.. /claps /cheers /:drink: |
actually what kind of transformers are those called in this picture
Lower right, encapsulated blue toroid sucker. http://www.magico.net/Pics/12.gif I've been trying to find these kind of transformers, but I dont know what there called. Digikey sells some called "PC Mount Low Profile", but the highest one they have that would be of use to me is [50VA 12V@4.166A @ $27.65]....Volts and amps are good, but I need higher VA rating. |
Looks like a typical DIY Audio project to me ;)
Mighty purty The transformers are probably Talema. Parts Connexion used to have them maybe still do. Only go to 50 VA, 22 V in the PC catalog though |

There is nothing typical about those enclosures. Krell is close, but does not look as nice (and is not time alligned). |
Those transformers are also avail able at www.digikey.ca and go to 200-va.

They are very interesting looking cabinets. I'd certainly want to see them up close before forming any opinions other than cosmetic.
The design seems derivative to me, rather than revolutionary. It looks like a cross between the Krell speakers and JM Lab speakers. Krell: http://www.stereophile.com/showarchives.cgi?382 JM LAb: http://www.uptownaudio.com/jmlab/utopia.htm I would guess that if the designer paid market rates for machining time and materials, those speakers are into the 5 figure range. |
I like the part where it says, "DANGER, High Voltage."
Guess it puts a new meaning to, "Don't spill your drinks on the Magico." |
They look like Plitrons
