Default Optonica Speakers - CP 5000 H

Does anyone know anything about these speakers? They have a ribbon type tweeter, an interesting cross over and the cabinets look to be extremely heavy and well built. The internet offers very little about these speakers that look kind of high end. They are for sale at a used building supply center of all places. Any idea of what I should pay? Or what they might sound like? Thanks.

Optonica was to Sharp as Lexus is to Toyota. If it's not too pricy, I'd give them a try. I have an Optonica preamp and amp, and a turntable in safekeeping with a friend. They are superb.

Thanks, there is very little information out there about these speakers. I wonder what they retailed for in 1978?

Thanks, I tried your link and really wish I could read Japanese. Cool Photo however, I see it says 85,000 yen, I wonder if this was the price and what that would have been in US funds. The speakers in the photo are identical to the ones I have found.

use Yahoo! Babel Fish - Text Translation and Web Page Translation
it's haiku-translation but generally comprehensible, much better than google

Been awhile, but I knew at one time 5000 yen was about $6 USA. Exchange rates have shifted grossly since then.

Later,
