where would you cross these over in a 3 way setup?
or wouldn't you?
I'm a bit worried about the lack of efficiency of the vifa driver, and after purchasing realised I should have bought the 4 ohm version.
perhaps there's another mid someone could suggest to go with this woofer, and tweeter?
they are to be used in a car audio environment and 3.5inch is the limit of the midrange.
thanks!

I doubt.re:'I'm a bit worried about the lack of efficiency of the vifa driver' - with such a discrepancy in efficiency, you'd need a separate amp for the subs with active crossover to achieve a balance...
The problem is not so much of passive vs. active but of the modulation of the output curves and crossover points. I would make a xover for the mid with an opposite shape of that of the graph to compensate the deep at 1KHz. The tweeter requires a relatively high xover point >3KHz because high Fs. This is the reasoning you can not achieve with "active" thinking. (Sorry I'm thinking HiFi, not car audio.) http://www.focalaustralia.com.au/

Hi,
The vifa is a full range (hence low sensitivity) driver best used elsewhere.
A small midrange will have higher sensitivity due to a much shorter coil.
(More excursion = less efficient use of the magnet field available.)
The vifa would ~ work in a hifi speaker with the others, but not for in car.
In car perhaps a sealed back midrange (need to c/o high) is your best bet,
but I've never seen any outside of the beer budget range, lots of those.
rgds, sreten.
