I have a driver for which i want to calculate baffle diffraction losses. The problem is its magnet is as wide as its diaphragm size. Also after I mount it (Flush mount) its gape is covered with the front panel.So probably using enclosure dimensions might not help. is it?
Pl. tell me how do I calculate baffle step diffraction losses for my system. I am attaching the pics.

i absolute have no clue how to calculate it in your situation, but prehaps you can anytime mesure it with a mic , i would guess.
placement of the speakers have a big impact on baffle stepp. so it is -even if you do calculate it- a good practise to mesure the speakers at the place you gona use them, and redo your calculation. (or just mesure..) |

Baffle diffraction is primarily determined by baffle dimensions and location of the driver. Size of the magnet isn't a factor. Here is a handy simulator worth playing with:
Home of the Edge With the magnet that tight to the back of the baffle you might want to put a 45 degree champfer on the back side of the woofer opening. Regards, David S. |

You need to chamfer or bevel the inside of the mounting hole so the woofer can breathe.
Diffraction has nothing to do with magnet size, the magnet is inside the enclosure or on the back side of the baffle. Diffraction, loss and diffraction stpe is what happens on the front side of the baffle/enclosure. |

Thank you all for the time here.
I got a good news from mt carpenter, he is not able to do that chamfer job. But yes I guess that is the only alternative I have. Aeiou and dave thanks for the tools. I have been using Edge for diff. losses. I was worried about magnet because I was worried if magnet is the first obstacle,so was worried.

any tool available where I can subtract my measured frd file of speakers with the filter (diffraction correction) frd.
so I can get to see result.
