Default rear loaded horn question.

Just wondered what are the best proportions for a rear loaded horn design to reduce ripple and have something that is fairly compact too.

Thanks
Boscoe

compact horn must produce ripple..
(corner) placement can help to reduce

Compact horn can only be achieved when you accept it has cutoff at 100Hz. Or a bass-reflex with front horn loading.

Corner placement does theoretically the horn increase mouth size and there for horn-loading = acoustic resistance. This will flatten the response in some degree.

By compact I mean about max total volume of 150l.

It is not a good driver for a horn due TS-parameters.

Best drivers for horn loading are basMID drivers with Fs of around 60Hz.

To see fast if a driver will do good do Fs/Qts if the result is around 110 it is a indication it will do a good job. Simulate it in horn response.

Like the monacor sph-176. Here a 100litre backloaded horn.

Combined response of direct radiation and horn radiation in a corner placement.
