Trying to decide between the Dayton DA-175 and SB Acoustics SB17.
For a 2-way, crossing over around 1700-1800Khz, in a 15-20 Lt ported box. DA-175 has the cost advantage but no glaring deficiencies compared to the SB17, except for the lowish sensitivity. Any other downsides of the DA-175 that I should be aware of ? |

how loud? let's say at full xmax of DA175 - 4.2mm
these drivers have similar power handling, DA175 with it's lower sensitivity will never achive SPL and dynamics of a more sensitive SB17, due to power compression. if you cross at 1700-1800Khz then it will be aluminum vs paper sound. you'd need subjective evaluation. I'd rather listen to resonating paper than aluminum. |
