Default First DIY / KINDA DIY BUILD...

I can't call it a "true" DIY, because I just rebuilt the cabinets, and built semi-matching speaker stands. I just transferred the crossovers and drivers over. All I can say is it is a LOT of work to make a baltic birch laminated speaker. This was my first woodworking project ever, I think I should have started with a napkin holder, or bird house. Anyways, Danny Ritchie gave me the original plans to my speakers (av123 x-ls's) and I rebuilt the cabinets from them. The interior dimensions are just about spot on, but I took some liberty with the exterior dimensions. I am just finishing up on the other speaker stand. Let me get your vote, spikes or no spikes on the speakers?

Thanks to Danny, for the plans "HUGE" help...

I've only heard with spikes (long story), but I am thinking it will not make too much difference in sound quality due to the fact that each stand is filled with 2.5 cans of expandable foam. As well as the side walls of the speakers are 1.5" thick and the front and back .75" thick.

I vote spikes, and nice work, good intro to the hobby.
