Default Free the Chassis

Some time ago I bought two PA speakers from RFT. "The" company in speakers and amps in the former eastern part of germany, GDR. The speakers are about 30 years old now. Their name is Vermona 9064 and the chassis are RFT L3512 and RFT L3404

One day I thought about open baffle again and just gave it a try...
I got them out of their stuffy enclosure and put them in several boards of spruce. Tried all kinds of geometrical forms...
I even listened a wile just with the chassis for bass and middle.... It sounded so good in a open construction...
I couldnt satisfiy my needs and so I changed the original condensators with these Frag Jan zuerst- Ask Jan first: Roehren und mehr
Great smooth sound now...

New Fotos and a tweak that really makes the upper chassis unnecessary...
I though about making a phase plug on my own. So here it is and does a great job to the high frequenzies...But most enjoyment I have is a huge soundstage now!!!
First I cauciously cut out the center dust cap with a scalpal. Worked well...
At our small lake I found some cut off limbs of a ( german: Weide).
So I stripped the bark off and cut short pieces... sandpapered them to right size 3,7cm width, 6cm length, drilled two holes, put screws in and shuved them in to the docking area...
Wow, I said to the soundstage. But now there is a little to much upper mid frequencies... Maybee I will cut off cm per cm to see what happens...

Very cool! How big are the woofers? 30, 38cm?
The plug looks like it's made from willow wood.
