Default Using Edirol PCR-1 for testing speakers

My son flew the coup and has left me with an AKG mic, a MACKIE mic/line mixer, an Edirol PCR 1 (USB audio interface with little midi keyboard), and I am wondering if these could be put together appropriately how to to test speakers for frequency response curves and step responses either with my laptop + program or Tektronix 475M scope. And if not, what else would I need?

If someone could hold my hand for a couple of steps on how to get started that would be nice. I have spent almost all day searching for information, reading all the threads on speaker testing, trying Holm Impulse, etc. and I need something for idiots. Thank you!!
Michael

Default Speaker testing for dummies -- the first step

In case there is another idiot out there like me -- whether it is M-Audio or Edirol or any other "USB audio interface", this will be your computer's sound card and wherever you specify your computer's sound devices, you need to set the Edirol or whatever, as the device for recording and playback. Once that's done, your testing software will recognize it and you can move to the next step.
