I'm looking to make 5 small 2 ways in an TM design for use in a 5.1 HT setup. I have a bunch of dayton reference rs150 8 ohm speakers that I bought for a different project several years back and never used. I would like to make these work if possible. I have been out of the DIY audio scene for a while now. I would rather use an existing completed design but don't mind doing some tweaking to suit my needs if there is a project that is close to what I want. I have searched around and haven't been able to locate anything close using these drivers.
I really only need these to extend to 80 hz as thats where they will be crossed to the subwoofer, so size will be a priority over low end extension. Basically I would like input from anyone that has done testing with these drivers in a TM application and recommendations for a suitable tweeter. TIA. |

thank you for the input bob. I already built those actually and think they are fantastic. I will be moving them to my basement theater and am looking for something smaller to use for a book shelf style 5.1 system for my family room. What do you think about the MT I posted?

That's the first thread I linked to.
IIRC, sealed gets you an F3 of around 95 Hz, you can go with smaller enclosures. A small format tweeter like Zaph uses in the ZA5.2 would probably work well, too. Last edited by BobEllis; 21st January 2011 at 12:47 AM. |

Lou has a good one, and i've got one too. his is probably a bit more refined and has had more folks build them, but mine's cheaper if that's an issue. madisound had a sinar baja tweeter on sale for $6 that i think is probably as good, but would require some tweaks.
