Default ported midranges

I know this is a bad idea due to port resonances etc but for a home cinema line array where 16 4" drivers are being crossed to a sealed midrange below 2.5khz is it feasible?

I have 3 options open to me

1. sealed cab with an F3 of around 100hz

2. ported box with an F3 of 70 hz

3. BBBIB - Big Blo**dy Bigger is better running to around 70hz

now as i said earlier ported mids are a bad idea so what is the difference between a ported mid and a bib if i were to add stuffing to the port to stop high frequencies?

a bib design would be roughly 3' wide by the height of the drivers close together this is not a problem size wise but will it work.

I need 105db max at the listening position (3m) although they will never be pushed this hard and response down to below 80hz (crossover to subs)

below are some pictures of responses including cone excursion, vent response etc for the mid and ported along with the bib response.

building difficulty etc is more or less the same but which option would you choose and why. Please bear in mid 2 things these are for home cinema where higher than normal spl capability is necessary and secondly they will not be used for music since i have my open baffles for this.

thanks

There are so many ported 2 way systems. If your statement is right they all suffer port resonances. If it was a issue they weren't that popular.

I did a ported mid because I needed to control x-max in that design was a nice solution. I see no problem
