Default re-driver my Infinity 51i 3 ways..help please.

my Infinity 51i floorstanders are in need of a makeover.
they consisit of Audax drivers 1" soft dome tweeter,5" midrange and a 8" woofer in a (approx) 37 liter enclosure. the mid sits in a 2 liter approx tube in the cabinet....
heres a pic and spec..(mine are black)
http://www.sanyo-densi.com/dai2/midi...ference51i.htm

so currently it uses one crossover for all three drivers and can't be bi-amped but my new system i want to bi amp them using my ONKYO TSXR 608 amp.

so far i was looking at: seas drivers:
ca22RNX,
MCH2RC, and
27tffc tweeter..

as seen here:
3-Way Classic

my thoughts were to use a passive crossover for the mid/tweet and the active bi amp crossover settings in the amp for the 8" woofer....
any thoughts on this setup? any tips on getting a good 3 way bi amp'd driver combo??
should i upgrade the drivers even further to

What is the reason you want to replace the drivers? Are they blown??? The biggest problem is going to be that your existing enclosures look to be vented, the chances that the replacement 8" driver will work properly with the tuning of the existing enclosure is extremely low.

You may also have problems with the mid, you would have to model it in that volume enclosure to be sure.

Finally you may even have problems with the tweeter as the size may not be identical....

You could plug the vent and go sealed and then find something that is suitable for a 37L enclosure, you can possibly put some bricks or sand in the bottom to reduce the volume if necessary. You might even be lucky and find a driver that you can tune the port to suit (making it shorter would be easier).

They are decent looking enough enclosures, but trying to fit something to an existing enclosure will more than likely not be the easiest approach to take, the normal approach is to design the enclosure to suit the driver, not to find a driver to suit an enclosure

don't want to put a damper on things, but I would strongly advise getting hold of a modeling program and checking both the mid and the woofer in their respective enclosures before parting with any cash! I like and use unibox which is free, but requires microsoft excel to use it.

thanks.
i have one blown tweeter and two damaged drivers thanks to my 2 year old and a broom handle.
yes i can certainly change the volume of the cabinets and plug the port if necessary. just want to get an idea of what people have used in a 3 way setup.
my onkyo 608 amp has a room EQ feature which will sort out some of the tuning issues but obviously i want to get it fairly well right first off.

comiserations! I know I had the same fears about my daughter, thankfully no mishaps!

I just modeled the ca22rnx in a 37L enclosure, interesting thing is the performance either vented or sealed is very similar.

37L is very close to optimal for a sealed implementation and it looks pretty good. it is a long way from optimal for vented, and the response whilst slightly more extended looks more like a sealed response than a vented one.

attached are the graphs.
