Default speakers for ra-100?

hello,

I'm new hear. first time posting.

What kind of near-field monitor speakers are a good match to this amp, Alesis RA-100? I'm wondering about the characteristics.. 2-way or 3-way?
pros and cons.. driver sizes.

at one time, I had some passive Event 20/20 that didnt work very well. I no longer have those speakers. I remember one speaker seemed to have crackled if driven too hard, especially with a chord played from a synth keyboard. I think the crackle was the speaker and followed the speaker when I switched channels on the amp.

I'd like to use this speaker again, and I'm wondering what kind of speakers would work well with it? I'm kind of interested in a diy speakers, at least in understanding more about what makes a good near field speaker, especially for this amp. wood working aspect is not an issue for me, I have access to tools.

thank you

Any nearfeild monitor capable of handling 100 watt peaks will do the job, it is the amp I use ATM, it is big enough and clean enough for the purpose.
from your description the speakers were overdriven

thanks.. I think the one speaker also suffered from the shock of falling on the ground, which shortened its life...

What kind of speakers do you use?

Yes 8 inch

Very old Coral mid-bass; paper cone, doped silk surround and early ceramic magnet, bought a mixed box of drivers on ebay and there were some dogs as well as some gems, this driver is one of the gems, tonally very similar to a P-13 but not so steep a roll-off ( but I have never measured them and my ears are not what they used to be )

High "Q" driver; I keep meaning to use it as an OB midrange

Something with a 6 inch woofer and a good low crossing tweeter, but i have no experience with near-field monitors
