Default Could I get custom drivers made by anyone?

Im just throwing a mad question out really, but does anyone know how i could go about getting some 'custom' drivers made?

probably just a pipe dream lol
Balancing the things I must do, with the things I'd like to do...This is a skill (or a luxury) amongst many that I do not possess.

Just contact a driver manufacturer and ask... its simply a matter of how many drivers you must purchase. I know SEAS can make "anything", but you must purchase 100 drivers at least.

Also we have Flex Units, they can make custom drivers at much lower volume, but at higher cost per driver.

Lots of companies will make custom drivers (almost every company that supplies raw drivers to the diy market, for example), but to get them interested you have to purchase a large volume. Alternatively you could offer to pay for any engineering time and tooling required, but just for example if you wanted a custom cone made, the tooling for that could be $1k or so. When you make 100,000 copies of the speaker using it, it costs a miniscule amount even if you need to make several iterations of the tool, but for just a few parts, obviously it would be pricey.

Why are you looking for custom made drivers in the first place? Is there some design or project you have in mind that you can't find drivers for?

I think you'd be taking a very expensive route going this way.

I can build you as many as you want for a good price. Pro-divers. Theres alot of companies who will sell parts. And i can get used motors of lots of brands that people will sell. But i am talking Car audio subwoofers that are made to get very loud..

Misco will do as little as two drivers if they can be made up of parts they carry (this cone with that basket and this magnet with that coil) and you have a heavy checkbook. Ask me how I know...

I guess carrying your cheque book gave you a hernia and you needed something to occupy yourself with while being laid up for a while with it. Correct?
