Hi -

The HF driver looks like a very good choice, from the PE reviews I have read, and probably would give a very good sounding HF system used with a waveguide.

Of the woofers you list, the RS270S-8 10" looks like the best for a multi LF application because it has a good Xmax and a flat response from 100 hz to 1K. However, it appears to have breakup issues above 2khz so should be xovered carefully to avoid having them affect SQ. The way I would do it is with a series pass L for a rolloff at 1khz before a shunt series LC network notch at about 2.5-3 khz to kill the breakup modes. It would then probably be an exceptional performer.

Some of the other PE woofers you list, while definitely good value for money appear to have a 3db or so droop above 100hz which seems to be an attempt by PE to integrate baffle step compensation into the driver's design. With 2 or 3 bass units used in a mini column, if the lower 1 or 2 are rolled off at the baffle step transition frequency (an octave or two lower than the xover frequency to the HF unit) with a first order series L (set to perhaps around 150 - 300 hz for a narrow baffle, and also considering close placement to a back wall) and a Zobel network , then that alone can take care of the baffle step and bass drivers with a lower Qts and higher midband efficiency can be utilized for higher system efficiency. One can utilize prosound drivers with their higher efficiencies very well in this configuration while achieving system efficiencies upwards of 95db/w/m while still retaining LF extension to 30hz or lower (in a ported configuration).
