Default Can you recommend me a midbass?

Hi everybody!
I have a matched pair of Fountek neocd3 ribbon tweeters.
I want to use them in a 2 way config, with some 5" or 6" midbass.
Wich one would you recommend me and why?

I have a pair of Polk LSI7 midbass. They seems to be a custom design made by Peerless, but the truth is that i can´t get a sound that fits with the ribbon tweeter. They aren´t that good. I´ve tried to cross them at 3khz, witouth a good result. They have a terrible peak in the middle zone.
I didn´t tried to cut the midbass around 2.4-2.5khz and the tweeter at 3khz, should i try it or should i keep looking for another midbass?

I´m sorry if there is any mistake on my spelling, my english is not perfect.

Hey, i´m sorry but i forget that i´ve made the same question some months ago.
The truth is that i been trying to make a good crosspoint for my drivers without success.
I will keep trying to make a good crosspoint for them, and if it´s impossible, i will look for some new midbass.

How are you approaching this design? Do you have any means of measuring the frequency response of the respective drivers?

Peerless 830883, best value for money, check out the distortion profile on Zaph's website
(but the SEAS driver is very close too...)

Hi,

I've only seen that tweeter used in a 3 way or very small 2 ways.

see :

I am currently using this Scanspeak of the "Discovery" range :

Scan Speak Discovery 18W8434G00

I fully agree with the comments made on it at the Zaph Audio Blog.

No, i haven´t got eqquipment to measure the drivers.
The only thing i know, is that the midbass is used in Polk LSI7/LSI9, and they used it with a crosspoint of 2.4khz with a 18db slope. But i´ve tried today this crosspoint with an active filter and they sounded equal than crossed at 3khz. And well, i have t/s parameters of tweeter, i bought them brand new in Europe.
Do you think that it would be worth to measure the speakers?

I'll suggest that the Neo3CD be crossed no lower than 3.5K. Most 6" or even 5" drivers will not be able to reach that high off axis, so a design using them would likely exhibit compromised power response. Using those tweeters, I'm thinking a 3 way design with a 4" mid or perhaps a 2" dome mid might be a better choice.

The use of CAD crossover software (such as Jeff Bagby's PCD) will significantly improve your chances of a successful design.
