Question HPM900 possible crossover problem

hi, i recently acquired a pair of HPM900's. in process of reconing the brittle graphite woofers. there's another problem though: both supertweeters are shot and no signal coming from their circuit in crossover. can anyone tell me how to troubleshoot these? and is 100w soldering gun too hot for use with these components? also my HPM1500 owners manual says supertweeters run continuous and you can hear them. thanks for any info
