Default ACTIVE BI - AMPING surround speakers ... is it worth the effort??

Finally the plan is made ... MT config for the center channel. Now is time to decide on the crossover. ACTIVE BI - AMP the 5 speakers can be quite nice the sound.
But the total cost could be quite high. A total of 10 amps Based on LM1875 and their transformers can be very expensive!!!

I need help. Should i ACTIVE BI -AMP my speakers or go for passive crossover. But i don't like passive crossover unless there is no choice... thanks

build one 2channel Power Amplifier.
If you are successful with the first 2channel amplifier, then consider adding two 4channel amplifiers.

one for the four drivers in the rear speakers.
one for the four drivers in the front speakers.
and the two channel amp powers the centre and bass speakers.

The cost of ten smaller transformers is not a lot more than five larger transformers. But all ten channels can share one transformer. (or a combination of transformers)
The parts costs for five passive crossovers can also add-up.

you would be better off running all the amps from one monster power supply as larger transformers have better regulation and ripple will be lower under typical conditions assuming you scale up the single supplies capacitor bank to the total you would use on seperate suplies.
