Default misused subwoofer for 2-way

Probably not worth a large thread but today i accidentally
used this one up to 2Khz....

http://www.tb-speaker.com/detail/1208_03/w69-1042j.htm

This is a rather cheap "no frills" subwoofer and already known
in the forum.

May need a little EQ due to enclosure used but:

There are smaller and specialized bass-midrange units
that perform worse in the midrange ...

Hi,

Ignoring TB's response curves which tend to be far too smooth the
impedance kink at 1KHz indicates some sort of problem the response
curve ii not showing, but if the impedance kinks you can be sure
something is there. edit : just noticed the minor kink at 300Hz.

The famous Kef B139 "racetrack" had a major problem at ~ 700Hz.

/Sreten.

Attached some quick and dirty measurements.

The suckout below 1Khz is also partly due to
measurement conditions.

1st pic smoothing is 1/6 octave.
2nd pic smoothing is 1/50 octave

Concerning the IR have seen worse ones
from fullrangers.

This is in a BR cabinet.

I am crossing it at 2.3 Khz with "OK" result.

I guess 800 Hz can be made rather well, when
finding a sufficiently widerange driver for the highs.

Resulted in a nice party box, but good at strings and voices nevertheless ...

Widerange unit used as tweeter:
Monacor "SPX-20TB N" built into a stuffed tube.

e.g.
SPX-20TB Miniatur-HiFi-Breitbandlautsprecher, 30WMAX, 8Ohm MONACOR / IMG Stage Line günstig online bestellen

Sounds rather relaxed, even at higher levels.
The tweeter is driven fairly below its mechanical limits.

Red:Tweeter with XO
Green: Whole Speaker, Tweeter padded down a bit compared to "Red"

Crossover wiring, RL parts are resembling the drivers (roughly).
Tweeter tube should be closed at the rear with dense foam plug e.g.

Tweeter tube arranged ontop of enclosure freely "B&W Nautilus style" .
When integrated into baffle, tweeters crossover will have to be changed.

Top: Tweeter
Bottom: Bass

You can cut the "Analysers" and their
wires away, to get the crossover wiring.

The simuation results at the right are not
reality, but close enough for a start.

Disclaimer:

"The crossover has been fine tuned by listening,
and may represent (strong) influence of the authors
listening room and listening habits."

Feel free to modify, according to your needs.
