Have anyone tried to "horn" load a sub as illustrated below, using the floor and wall? Not as a normal corner horn, but only the floor and sidewall as implemented below. Just an idea

Assuming free space (ski lift conditions) adding the
first wall behind the speaker will give you 6db gain in sound pressure. The next wall making up a 90 degree edge will give you another 6db ... Positioning in an edge - but not in corners - with radiation axis parallel to the edge is a nice thing to improve sound pressure from a dipole subwoofer. A monopole can even be placed in a corner. But in a real room things look different due to excitation of room modes. Nevertheless, there is nothing wrong with the idea and a position in an edge of the room can be tried for a subwoofer. Kind Regards |

Should in many cases be no difference in case of
a subwoofer, if you find a good place in a bottom edge you may find one under a ceiling edge as well. And the sub gets "out of your feet" and saves place. In fact you may have often more space for variation of the position under the ceiling. Kind Regards |

It's basically called a Klipsch Corner Horn...
The problem, if there is going to be one is that it is very very very room dependent. In some rooms the Klipsch sounds wonderful, in others, no bass at all. Ymmv. _-_-bear
