Ken Kantor argues that the equilateral triangle is wrong for "normal" point-source speakers. His recommended starting point is listener distance 1.5 times the speaker-to-speaker distance, the former measured from the centerpoint of the line connecting the two speakers to the listener.

The rule is that there is no rule.

With my fullrange driver based OB's, which are essentially point source, I find that everything gels better if I am listening farther back then the distance between the speakers. The center of my speakers are about 8 feet apart, while the listener chair is about 12 feet back.

Default moving tweeters

I've had a couple of tweeters sitting on top of the mid/bass enclosure, moving them backwards or forwards has quite a dramatic effect on the coherence of the sound when I'm standing close,
however maybe this changes when one is futher away and room reflections, etc take over.......

cheers,
Pete Mck
