Hi
I am currently building my own speakers. Each speaker has a 80watt 12" woofer, 40watt 5" inch midrange, and a 40watt 2" tweeter. All of the speakers are 8 ohm. Here is the thing I need help with. My amp puts out 500 watts (100 watts per channel). I will have each speaker hooked up to each channel. That is 100 watts supplied to each speaker. How do I supply the 100 watts of power to my woofer, midrange, and tweeter so that each will be getting the power they need? I want my woofer to be getting the most out of the 100 watts because it is the one that needs it. But does anyone know how to do it? Ex 50 watts for woofer, 50 watts for mid and tweeter. Or 60 watts for woofer , 40 watts for mid and tweeter. Please help |

You will find, out of 100 watts, (Your Amplifier) 80% of it
will be used for bass, 15% midrange, and 5% trebile. This is due to styles of music. It's Very Rare, you find an amplifier clipping in the mid - hi frequencies before the bass, in a non bi/triamp congfiguration. Just have a passive crossover, on the drivers, and it, (the Crossover) will take care of the rest. Since you are not Biamping/Triamping, your worries are less than a person that is using two/three amplifiers in a bi/triamp configuration. And, only in a Bi/Triamp system you can dictate what each driver can get.
