Anyone have tips on allready built and tested 3 way designs with 2 x emminence 15 A?
I can and will (in time) go active, with gainclone for the woofers and tweeter, tube for the midrange. Will also use a tapped horn woofer for the lowest frequensy. Have tried searching, but most designs use a fullrange driver combined with the woofers. I am planning to build a centerchannel for surround use and I understand that fullrange drivers is not an option for surround. I live in Norway and can get the woofers cheap and like the looks of 2 x 15 |

Give it a search on Emerald Phisics open baffle clone. There is one discussed in the OB Gallery here on the forum just now. Emminence 15A too..

If you can get a good price on the Goldwood 18" woofer model GW-1858 with a ~1.0 Qts, it would be worthwhile to review MJK's dipole thread in the Fullrange forum. MJK's website has a detailed design document. You could build an H-frame dipole bass bottom, and experiment with different high frequency top options.
I currently have an H-frame with two Lambda TD15Diople speakers wired in parallel for 96db/watt sensitivity and have been playing with differnt mid-tweet tops. Two stacked 15" woofers are high enough to affect design decisons for on-axis ear level listenting. A single 18" would require more bass watts power, but might better fit some listening environments. I think an H-baffle is the best home solution for good bass since it can provide SPL levels similar to 3x the number of minimal baffle (aka nude) woofers. MJK’s Jordan JX92S OB with a Goldwood GW-1858 Woofer in an H Frame My best mid-tweet are a minimal baffle with a DIY dipole ribbon tweeter and either the Lambda TD10Dipole or Tang Band 18-1808 with the wizzer removed. I could not try these min-baffle f_dipole designs before I set up a PC based crossover and tri-amped, as the passive crossovers are too complex. |

Just a suggestion. Here is a fresh measurement of my 18Sound 6ND430 and Neo3 standard without backcup in the 'famous' MJAO dipole baffle. Measurement is from the listening position in my livingroom as can be seen on the picture which shows the measured right hand speaker. Centeraxises cross a little bit forward of the listening position. Text on measurement graph explains the crossover settings. Alphas are LP also at 200 Hz L-R 24 dB/oct.
![]() ![]() The Alpha15s do complement this setup very well. Baffles look like hell but sound heavenly. /Erling |

Scorpion, can you check how the speakers perform with this music?

Hello skorpion. Because you've obviously had some extended experience with the Alpha's, do you think it's possible to use them with higher sensitivity midrange drivers without eq the woofers to the death? I am thinking of something about 96/97 db.

Interesting to read this.
I'm currently investigating: High; BMS 4524 on QSC HPR122i waveguide Mid; 18sound 6nd430 Low; (2x) A&D Audio R 1524 ('Linkwitz' dipole) Any thoughts on this? |

skorpion - I am very interested to see you used an 18Sound 6ND430 and Neo3 with the Alpha 15As. This is a combination I've been looking at trying. The measurements that you posted don't show the rising response that I expected from the 6ND430 (for example see Zaph's measurements at Zaph|Audio or 18Sound's published data at http://www.eighteensound.com/staticC...nsducers_P.pdf - see page 28). Did you do anything for this?
