Default OB quasar mkII - filter question(s)

Hi all OB-fans!

I'm thinking about building the Quasar mkII, find the speaker very interesting (like the design alot! ) but I have some questions about how to solve the crossover issue I've got.

All configurations so far i've seen/read have used active filter for Alpha 15", but i currently not an owner of a activefilter.
So my question is: is it possible to build a passive filter for the speaker instead? Or will it be as expensive as to buy an active filter?

Any inputs?

Best regards
Mikael

Hi,

It is possible if you use the alpha 15. See MJK papers : OB Theory

Solid state amplifiers required.

Regards.

Thanks for that link, had totally missed it.

Since he's only using 1 15" and I'm using 2 15" I should only lower the coil from 9mH to 4.5mH for same results, right?

best regards
Mikael

Yes the coil to 4.5mH and the capacitor to 2x68uF.

Regards.
