Question Crossover Help Request for PE Closeout drivers

Hi All.

I was hoping someone could suggest a crossover design for a 6" 2-way I'm building as a graduation gift for my kid. I have no simulation software, so I'm asking for help.

I've got two drivers on closeout order from Parts Express at very reasonable cost.

The 6" woofer specs are: "Power handling: 80 watts RMS/160 watts max *VCdia: 1" *Le: 1.13 mH *Impedance: 6 ohms *Re: 4.47 ohms *Frequency response: 40-3,500 Hz *Fs: 64 Hz *SPL: 89 dB 1W/1m *Vas: 0.22 cu. ft. *Qms: 3.98 *Qes: 0.47 *Qts: 0.42 *Xmax: 2.5 mm "

JAMO 20422 6" Treated Paper Cone Woofer 6 Ohm | JAMO 20422 6" Paper Cone driver Woofer speaker midrange mid jamo_buyouts_10C ccflippy | Parts-Express.com

and
1" dome tweeter specs are: "Power handling: 50 watts RMS/100 watts max VCdia: 1" *Impedance: 4 ohms *Re: 3.1 ohms *Frequency response: 1,000-20,000 Hz *Fs: 1,070 Hz *SPL: 94 dB 2.83V/1m. "

Vifa BC25TG19-04 1" Textile Dome Tweeter 4 Ohm | Vifa BC25TG19-04 Tymphany DU0207 BC25TG15-04 BC25SG15-04 IC0465-01-1 dali Dome Tweeter 4 Ohm tweeter peerless vline waveguide hf high frequency mtm PeerlessBuyouts612010 | Parts-Express.com

I already have the boxes, which have a baffle 15" High x 7.5 Wide with an edge chamfer beyond that.

Thanks in advance for your assistance!

-Chas

without an impedance plot it's impossible to design a good crossover.
I suggest you download ARTA: ARTA ARTA Download
Make this simple jig: ARTA Jig - AudioBlog: A simple loudspeaker measurement jig for ARTA
and you're in business...

Default Impedance Plot for tweeter

I should clarify:

I have the Jamo crossover for the Jamo woofer, which gives a 2nd order low-pass rolloff at 3kHz...

I just need help with the high-pass for the substitution of this Vifa tweeter (impedance plot/link found here:
http://www.parts-express.com/pdf/279-175s.pdf

Thanks.

read off the impedance value at your xover freq & plug the numbers into this calculator:
Crossover Design Calculators
Then work out the difference in dB between the woofer & tweeter and calculate an l-pad on the same calc page.

That will get you close enough to get started, you can tweak from there. Specifically you may want to add baffle step correction.

Default Got driver measurements-Finally

I finally got the woofer and tweeter measured, and also have a second tweeter option that may be more suitable.
Here's the (6" Jamo)woofer data:

Default Optional Dayton tweeter

Here's the data for the Dayton 1.1" silk dome, which may be a better match to the Jamo woofer(any help is appreciated):

The Dayton seems to be the same sensitivity as the woofer, has ferrofluid (better damping), & a lower Fs, probably much easier to use than the Dali...
Do you have a frequency response plot for the Jamo - to help with choice of crossover frequency? - Otherwise go for an LR 2nd order xover at around 1.5-2 KHz, the Jamo's impedance rises fairly quickly, so a zobel is probably in order...

Default Zobel suggestions?

Any suggested values for Zobel?

With LR 2nd order crossover, must one invert the tweeter polarity connection for flat response?

TIA

Hi,

And this crossover does not include a treble section ?
Its the acoustic target at 3kHz that determines the tweeter
phase, not the electrical filter order, see Zaphs designs.
