Try the Klipsch forum and do a search on the Klipsch Jubilee. There are DIY plans available (although their accuracy is questionable). The background and performance measures are detailed in an JAES article by Delgado & Klipsch.
In a nutshell (compared to the original Klipschorn) 1) the bandwidth is extended and can allow for a two-way configuration, 2) distortion is reduced, 3) the build is easier since the angles and bevels are only in a single dimension. Good Luck |

I've owned and modified a set of Khorns. You can do better.

I cook booked a set of Khorns 40 years ago and I have to say modern designs are a better way to go.
Two ways like Geddes's or Volvotretter's or Synergy type horns like Danley's will give you better sound than Khorns. I still have the Khorns modified and I like them, but the modern designs sound better. edit: i haven't heard Volvotretter's but i suspect they'll sound better than the KHorns. Designs like Geddes's and Danley's can give you greater controlled directivity which helps fit them to your room's characteristics and, of course, you are not confined to putting them in a corner. 2 ways with distributed subs is the best way to go, I think. Khorns where some of the finest speakers available when they first came out. They are still good, but you can do so much better and for waaaay less.
If you are set on the khorn, then go for it. But, I've had one pair of origanals and one pair of the Speakerlab Ks. And I'd never go back in that direction. |

Here is another option. You get a corner horn, plus the controlled directivity that others have mentioned. Take a look at the corner horn from Pi Speakers. These have got very high reviews, and use current drivers that you can buy today. It comes in a kit also. Look at the 7pi kit.
