Default XO for these two drivers?

Any suggestions on crossing this Dayton dome over to this Scan-Speak dome mid?

Cheers

Ideally, the SS dome should not be XO'd above 2 kHz, because the off-axis response changes a lot above 2 kHz. I seriously doubt you could XO that Dayton tweeter at 2 kHz, right at its resonance. My advice: look for a better suited (cone) midrange.

The SS dome will actually be horn loaded so the off-axis response will be a bit different tho, but noted I was hoping to run the SS dome without a low pass and just mate the Dayton dome as easily as possible with it.

Hi,

I measured the Fs of one of my ND20FA6 at 1.85khz / 9.61 ohms; X-over LR4 at 2.3khz (5.6µF + 0.35mH + Lpad) worked well mated to a 2" Peerless FR2; I would go somewhere similar with your SS dome, maybe a bit lower i.e. 2.1khz...
edit: I guess that using the mid without low-pass could work but will certainly be tricky without using at least a tiny series coil.

Considering that the 3" dome is flat to 7 kHz on-axis, I dont think its a good idea to run it without XO. You are bound to get very bad directivity, even with a waveguide.

What do you suggest as a low pass on the 3" dome? Maybe a single cap below waveguide cutoff to deal with the horn loading and to make it easier to mate with the Dayton dome?
