Default Tannoy V8 crossover project

What is that "Fuse" looking thing, is that a resistor (Not use to seeing those).

Also what is the 8.2K 100V, I would assume that means 8.2 uF.

These are not to important because I will be building a new XO.

here is the original on axis measurement.

I thought maybe it was the measurements or something but I tried both speakers and moved them to several locations in the room to make sure.

I removed the driver and mounted it on a baffle to build a quick XO on my DCX.

Here is the FR plot of my test active XO.

The dip and the peak in the THD are gone now.

next step is to get my FR export and impedance exports into Speaker Workshop and sim some crossovers.

Just a fun side project from my main waveguide build. The V8s will be my surrounds and I intend on buying 4 more from ebay once I get this done.

I would guess that the fuse looking thing is a light bulb used to protect the speakers from overloading.

Thinking it was a light bulb was too easy to consider but looking at the board there is the world "lamp" on it. Cool concept, thanks.

Watch out to make sure that ~1.5kHz dip still exists off-axis. It might not, in which case your active XO is putting way too much midrange energy into the room.

Duals should never be listened to directly on-axis, anyway. I prefer 30 to 45 deg off axis. (Even for the center, which is why my front speakers have the center of their 12" Duals ~55" off the ground.)

I use my v8 dual concentric in a 3/4" mdf 9w x 13 1/2d x 23h cabinet (30 ltr internal dimentions) based on the golden ratio and the internal dimensions were suggested by Tannoy. here is the best in my opinion I have tried the saturn 8,v8 and numerous other xover's and it was ok. However I have tannoy 15" 3811/3836 dual concentrics (160 ltr cabinet internal dimensions) i useD multiple xovers as well DMT 15, DMT MKii, GLENAIR, ETC. To my surprise I found an original copy of actual the cpa 15 xover and low and behold my 15's sound terrific. so yesterday I decided I was not satified with the sound of my V8 DC. I opened them up and built an xover with the spare parts I had and matched the cpa 15 xover and to mysurprised they just sound just as good as the 15's and if I did not know better i would sell my 15' and just build two more pairs of the v8's with the cpa 15 xover.

Could you post the schematic for that crossover which you used. I have the dual concentric driver from the system 800's and have wanted to rebuild the networks.
