The bass drivers I will use will be C15-400B. PDF
Searching for a horn, I came across with CP 800TI from Beyma which has low 2nd and 3rd order harmonics for a compression driver. PDF But it has the SPL value to high (for 1W). A L-pad will help but with some disadvantages. The horn used in Beymas test is TD590. PDF The polar response is not so great. Next step. As you can see from the graphs at 5W the C15 will have over 100dB at 50Hz. It will be a problem matching this with a good mid driver. The possibility of 15" + 2" driver will work only if I find one suitable for the job. The test enclosure is 110 L, FB 45Hz, 20% Damping (40kg/m3). Full space simulation (anechoic). |

The response in the PDF file is in Free Air.
From Leaps graph I find the following: 150 @ 97dB 200 @ 98.5dB above 200Hz the SPL increases slightly to about 100dB. This are also in Free Air. Delta Pro 8 might work. Breakup range starts at rougly 3Khz. |

The graphs cant be correct. Based on the T/S parameters, I find that free air (4pi) sensitivity of the woofer is just 89,65 dB. At 5W that is not more than 96,6 dB.

Re-running.
I know that graphs are inaccurate and that`s why I will build a test box to assess it. Later: Same result. The box was rectangular due to laziness. P.S. Attached graphs from LEAP database. First one is free air, second inf baffle. Last edited by Predator864; 4th May 2010 at 07:40 AM. |
