Hi,
was looking for a new speaker project, passive XO, a box for the livingroom. Was thinking about a two-way with 10'' Seas Woofer, similar to this one Lautsprecher Shop Intertechnik - **/Prestige | DIY Speaker Kids with Seas Speakers :: Seas-Prestige :: Loudspeakers :: but in CB with smaller cab. Then I stumbled across World Designs Speaker Kits and it is very near to the one I thought about and much cheaper, even if I took a better tweeter (the XL option). Does anyone have any experiences with those WD25T? Best regards Floric |

Hi Floric,
I'm considering building the WD25T too and have no idea how it sounds. The design and concept appear to be good. I would like to build a pair of these speakers using the Seas EX T25CF002. For the amount of time needed to build these speakers, the extra cost for the tweeters in my opinion are well worth it. I'll ask the same question. Does anyone have experience with this speaker system to share with us. Thanks, Richard |

Hi,
No idea how sounds the WD25T, sorry. A 2 ways a 10" + 1" is a tricky choice. The dispersion in the low treble is not very good and the drivers work in their limit high for the 10" and low for the tweeter. It is better and less expensive to add a midrange and a less expensive tweeter. Better to do something like this one or this (do an extend visit of his website, you can find other 3 ways) An other class of project, OB on DIYAUDIO Manzanita and BOB Have fun. |

Hi Jerome,
yes that's the classical point of view, but those big two ways are kind of sexy. It's alwas possible to add a midrange and convert it to anything like a cyclop if you don't like it. Thanks Flo |

I've heard these on several occasions. Very good design!
It's not a million miles from a classic Dynaco design. The tonal balance is towards sensitivity and great clarity, at the expense of perceived bass 'thump'. Personaly I like this approach; it's an unburstable monitor. The resulting in-room balance, requiring close-to-wall placement, is immensely clean and natural - it suits any musical genre; yet it can be driven with very low power amps. I'd be very happy with a pair. |

that close-to-wall placement, I think 10cm is sufficient, is a strong agrument. I have the contradictory situation of a large room (about 60m²) with the requirement of a placement really close to the wall. Not because of WAF reasons, no one likes his speakers in front of the door. Did you listen to the WD25? What does it do with the midrange and the voices. I can figure out that the bass is not that "strong" but one of the arguments against 10'' is the dispersion in the midrange. Regards Flo |

I have only listened near-field (<3m). I think the midrange is about as good as is possible with a 10" bass two-way; not perfect, but very, very even-handed and clean. No obvious deficiencies, and preferable to many alternatives...
Put it this way: every time I've heard these speakers, the music has not been my choice - but I've really enjoyed it. |
