Default Extremis 6.8 with w3-871....... hmmm...

Went rummaging through my stash of drivers the other day and found that I have a pair of Adire Extremis 6.8's and eight tang band w3-871's. So I got to thinking...... why not run 4 871's open baffle with the 6.8's helping out in the bottom end in their suggested 21 li vented cab, and x-overed at 300Hz.

Thoughts ? Suggestions ?

TIA

Yes, get yourself a plate amp for the Extremis and run the TB's off your regular amp and you'll likely be a very happy man. I run two Extremis in this box accompanied by a couple Fosters and am happy about everything but the power handling about the satellites. They sound so good that I want to turn it up and...

Neat set up.

I was actually thinking of something more conservative. Essentially I was planning to build the 21li enclosure for the 6.8 and extending the baffle another 18 inches higher to mount 4 w3-871's in an open baffle array sort of thing. With the x-over being around 300hz, I imagine I could run plenty of power into it and not have to worry too much about bottoming out the 871's.

Alternatively I do have some budget for a higher grade mid/tweeter combo or put in a better full range driver, while still keeping the 6.8

Speaking of plate amps, are there any decent 2 channel plate amps out there with x-over point adjustable down to 300hz ?

TIA
