I have a pair of G1s. They don't seem as efficient as the specs suggest. I tried to mate them to a pair of Altec Model19s with mixed results. Also, they sound better if rolled off above 8K. Otherwise a pretty good ribbon.

They're fairly pricey to base a system around. I got mine as a closeout from CSS in Vancouver BC for a substantial discount. It might be worth shopping around for alternatives if you haven't pulled the trigger as yet.

Ribbons can be quite fragile when used active, one amplifier pop switching on or off will kill it instantly.
I use Fountek JP 3.0 active as super tweeters (from 12kHz) and protect it with a passive 18dB high pass filter set about an octave below xover. Worked so far… Btw my Founteks look remarkably similar to Aurum Cantus G2, a lot cheaper though! |

I ordered an Arum Cantus G2, I believe, form PE and returned it. It seemed to be defective. I ended up getting a Fountek which has worked out quite well.

Another nice feature of Founteks is that if you buy two you'll get a matched pair.
At least I got from the german retailer I ordered mine from. |
