Default Need to start!

Ok, so I have been on this forum for the last couple of month, reading almost every new and old post and am completely in love with it. I really want to do a speaker project and have been studying and learning as much as I can. Before I jump in to something that will be over my head, I thought I would start out small. I was watching TV the other day and on top of my wall unit were my Technics SB-CR99 speakers. I really don't listen to them much, my wife does. I really think they sound bad. But then I thought, why not try to make these sound better. So I took them apart to see what was going on. As far as I can tell, they use Panasonic speakers, EAS brand. It is a ported box with no bracing, very basic. I don't want to replace speakers. I thought the crossover would be a good place to start. I am really green to this whole thing but I really want to learn. The crossover looks very basic and cheap. I think it is Tyco electronics parts. All of the components of these speakers, including crossover, are discontinued. Without knowing any specs of the speakers, what direction do I need to go in to maybe make these things sound better. Moderator, if this post doesn't belong here just delete.

Not a bad place to start, but honestly you won't see much improvement if these are the moulded plastic cases.
Rather than post the published manufacturers specs you will be better to post a few pix of the speakers themselves.
I have found that the most cost effective tweak is also the easiest, open the box and add some foam or fiber damping

Good luck with your first project
