Default Scan Speak R2904/7000 vs R3004/6620

Hi, I wonder what would be the best tweeter to use along with a 15W4531G revelator midbass, a R2904/7000 revelator or a R3004/6620 illuminator...
Anyone already worked with an R3004?

What about high frequency dispersion? Soft domes (like the D3004/6620) seem to be quite superior, but is this an issue?
Thanks!

Hi Filipe. The SS R3004/6620 illuminator looks better (on paper) in your case, with it's 90.5dB versus the 87dB of the SS 15W/4531G00, the low frequency output at around 2K and lower looks better, what the SS R2904/7000 revelator might be a pane to design a good xover and a lot of padding the high SPL. All in all I would considerer the SS D3004/6620 textile dome a much superior tweeter as you can see from it's specs.

Hi Inductor, thanks for your post! In fact the SS D3004/6620 looks better, considering FR and specs! The dispersion is also quite good, much better than a ring radiator.

Anyway I will upgrade from a SS D2905/9700 which is already a good tweeter. What SS tweeter would be worth the effort (and the money!)?

I use the 70000 with the 15W4531 in a 12 litre BR cab.

If you PM me, I can give you the XO design. It is a commercial product, so I would not like to list it on the forum.

Whether this would be an economical upgrade is another matter as the ring radiators are extremely expensive.

I was talking to a chap who upgraded the D2904-98000 to the R29 ring radiator. He was pleased. He stated that the tweeters just vanished.

Regarding the Illuminator ring radiator, do you have any idea of how it compares to the R2904/7000?

Thanks!

One thing to perhaps think about is that you might prefer a tweeter with inferior directivity, depending on how it interacts with your room.

I vastly prefer the way the XT25 sounds over the XT19, the only thing I can attribute this to is the inferior off axis performance. This is in exactly the same system in the same room with a well integrated xover.
