Are there anybody here with experience with Groundsound's DCN23 (or 24) DSP/XO?
(Ground Sound The only drawback I can see is lack of digital input. On the other hand - a lot of active speakers lack digital input, yet get rave tests. Last edited by Audiodidakt; 25th February 2010 at 09:11 AM. |

Hi,
I am using the DCN23 with 2 x three SS amps (from GroundSound as well) for my fully horn loaded 3-way rig. I have difficulties describing the sound from each component (DCS23 on the one side and the amps on the other), because I have only used the products as a total package. However, as a system I think it sounds very well indeed! I especially like the so-called Xover Wizard, that is, the software tool from which you control and change the digital crossovers. It is very easy and straight forward to use and has several very convenient features: First of all, you can make changes 'on the fly', which means that you can experiment with different crossover points and/or slopes etc. while the system is playing (a new configuration just mutes one channel of the system for a second or two, and then it runs!). This elegant feature makes it very easy to make A/B comparisons between different configurations - nice! Second, you can implement measurements directly into the software and use these measurements as basis for your (eventual) eq. etc. (I have not used this feature myself, but know that it is an option.). You are right that the DCN23 does not have digital inputs, but I think that Robert (director of GroundSound) has a new version on the way that involves using digital inputs. Just for the record, I have no financial relations to GroundSound etc.... Best regards Peter |

Thanks for your comments Peter!
My interesse for Groundsound has been further increased. BTW - nice system you have! I see you use the Beyma TPL150H. I might use the same tweeter - are you happy with it? |

Thanks! Yes, I am very happy with the Beyma TPL-150H. It is more revealing and at the same time more natural sounding than any of the compression drivers I have tried in my system (2" BMS 4592ND and 1" B&C DE25). Best regards Peter |
