Some weeks ago I start this thread:
Fabric Dome Tweeter 96db - altern. to Glockenklang phenol 99db (based to RCF TW116)? and have get very good advices. No I want to have an overview about this kind of tweeters: so called cone tweeters here an example - but cheap version: Visaton - Lautsprecher und Zubehör, Loudspeakers and Accessories The wanted overview must have only high quality versions without ferrofluid from currently production (nothing no longer available vintage versions like JBL). Except the cone tweeter from Davis (see attachement) and some vintage versions like this JBL LE26 tweeter- I dont find such tweeters. The cone tweeter from this danish manufacturer sounded very fine: http://www.horninghybrid.com/ Thank you for your advices Davis Acoustics Last edited by tiefbassuebertr; 18th February 2010 at 05:44 PM. |

I'd put the Mark Audio Alpair 5 and Fostex FF85K into the category of quite decent cone tweeters.

Yes, the Alpair 5 is a slightly enhanced version of the Jordan J6T (your 2nd picture) that Mark Fenlon developed for Jordan when he was working with Ted.
The last of your posted pictures are my modified FF85KeN. They are real stunners. dave

Even though these are N.O.S. the Matsushita Cone Tweeter still has the performance many tweeters do not offer. It should be on your list of cone tweeters which do their job well.

this tweeter from visaton looks better than the example you posted:
Visaton - Lautsprecher und Zubehör, Loudspeakers and Accessories although i have to agree with P10, the MA 5 looks sweet and as near as i would think it is able to get to a good mid tweeter. which gives me some ideas.....hmmmm

I don't think so. The main disadvantage is a very low Bl product (magnet construction not good) and high Qes. Expected power compression already by lower levels. If there are the right magnet, this could be a good tweeter |
