Inexpensive 8" driver with steep top-end roll-off

I have heard a few speakers I really like that have the midbass driver running full range and only have a high-pass on the tweeter because the roll-off on the woofer is steep and smooth. The best example I saw was those Eggleston Lunar surface mission speakers (or something like that), they used a 6 1/2" Morel for the midbass and ran it ful range so that only the tweeter needed a crossover.

I would like to experiment with the same idea in a few configurations using an 8" driver if possible (a 6 1/2 would be OK otherwise), but I would like to find a less expensive driver, hopefully in the 20-30 dollar range to perform the task. Can anybody recommend a good driver that meets those criteria?
