I have a lovely pair of Celestion Ditton 44 speakers from the late 70s, with 1" tweeter, 5" cone mid and 12" bass drivers in a sealed enclosure.
What I want to do is build a modern crossover for these excellent drivers with crossover points at 500 and 5000 Hz. Does anybody have any schematics to get me started? The current crossover is based on the original design with old electro caps replaced with exact value polyprops, and ESR compensating resistors to balance the driver levels (fitted by trial and error listening). It works very well and I love the sound, but I wanted to build a modern design of crossover to compare and I need help. Here's the schematic of the current system: ![]() Many thanks Lucas

Crossover design hasn't changed since the 70s; what has changed is the ready availablity of measurement capability. If you want a new crossover, I think you'd need to start by measuring the frequency response, impedance curve and T/S parameters of the drivers. Otherwise you have no starting point for the crossover design.
To measure drivers, nowadays quite a simple procedure, Download ARTA: ARTA ARTA Download 03012100, and make this simple jig: ARTA Jig - AudioBlog: A simple loudspeaker measurement jig for ARTA
