Default 3 WAY Technics Boxes Modified

Hello! G'day Ni Hao

Originally i purchased the Technics speakers from the paper for $50, plus $50 to courier to home.

Nothing wrong with the drivers so i sold them, for an old speaker the woofer was awesome !!, mid and tweeter, where ok also, but in my quest for better sound and bass ( well Technics woofer had more )

The Woofer i purchased was Peerless 830669 SLS woofer.
http://www.lautsprechershop.de/pdf/peerless/sls12.pdf

I decided to remeasure the inside of my speakers without pressing the ruler into the fill.

Height: 83.5cm
Width: 33.5cm
Back: 33.0cm
Tube is 17cm inside box and diameter is 13cm
Ports 2 x 6.6cm

I am not sure but the 13cm length might be the best out of the box for bass.

Crossover, is CYC 22uf 100v for woofer, i have on order Solen 22uf 400V caps. Tweeter and Midrange on crossover has been replaced with Solen 3.3uf 400v and 6.8uf 400V caps.

Throughout the box ive used Supra Ply3.4S speaker cable. Fill ( some wool i got from a sale) on back sides top and bottom of box.

If you are happy with the job OK

Most people here would say why bother, the original box is not of the best construction ( needs some serious bracing ) but this is how I got into speaker building myself.
What is the midrange?? and tweeter??

Is it the original

Hey there Happy Aussie Day xD
Someday i might get a box done for woofer. It has bracing under the wool Heavy old box the technics. I am just wondering what the best lengh for the ports to get more bass xD from the current set up.

Midrange is Vifa P13WG-10-04 in its own enclosure
Tweeter is Vifa DX25TG05-04

Don't forget the lamb chops on the barbie

Don't use a port with this woofer, it is optimized for a medium size sealed box, just stuff the port with a foam filled sock and fill the cavity with polyfill

polyester fiber, bust open a pillow and use that fluffy white stuff inside, Jaycar sell BAF ( Bonded Acrylic Fiber ) and Clark Rubber sell something similar, don't be too fussy, I use pink batt fiber glass but use some BAF between the driver back and the glass wool, just in case.

That small magnet P-13 has a nice smooth FR, but I don't have enough experience with it to comment on the XO chosen.

22C here, nice and sunny with a sea breeze, we can't be bothered with a barbie so take-away pizza tonite

Gotta love those big classic 3-ways!
I'm sure there's plenty of cheap ways to improve them, like baffle reinforcement, capacitor upgrades etc, but you've made a nice start.
