I would like to hear some advice for a mini-monitor drives/ project. It shall be under 5l. I can afford to spend max 250EUR/pair for drives.
For woofer, I am looking at Dayton RS125, Seas L12, SB acoustics. SB acoustics have great reviews for 5" and 6" models but nothing for 4". They use copper sleeve only on 5" and 6" models. I am not sure what is the effect of not using it for 4" model; for sure inductance is higher for 4" model than for 5". But 5" requires a bigger enclosure. For tweeter, the favorite is SB SB29RDNC. My favorite combination right now is Seas L12 + SB SB29RDNC crossed as low as possible. Also, I am considering Troels Gravesen Eekels' Minis. This are a little bit over budget. I have experience with Dayton drivers (RS200, RS170, RS52AN), some Fostex (FE and FF), Seas tweeters (TDC, TFFC), Fountek ribbon. I am very happy with a combination of RS170 + Fostex FF125k + Fountek ribbon. I would like to maintain the speed and details of this combination. |
