Default BSC in 2½-way design

What experiments do you have in compensating baffle step in 2½-way designs? So that woofer(s) must be same as midwoofer.

There is lot of speakers using this, System Audio, Za5.5. New System Audio Mantra 60 has 4 woofers per one midwoofer!
How can it be done that woofers don't have more output than one midwoofer?

I like this simple design where sensitivity is held high by 0,5-way woofers, not lowering it by resistors for BSC.

ScanSpeak has one woofer model which has 4 and 8 ohm versions. I think they offer more alternatives for lay out impedance and SPL.

The most common approach when using two equal woofers is to let the mid/woofer run up to the XO point without any attenuation, and then "fill in" the baffle step by using a 1. order filter from 100-150 Hz on the lower woofer, and maybe increase to 2. order for the lower woofer at the XO point. This is what I always do myself....

When there are more than one woofer I dont know what's done, but it might be that they use an 8 ohm mid/woofer and 16 ohm or higher impedance woofers?

Correction, Mantra 60 is normal 3-way. Mid is crossed of basses so 4 woofers is possible.

My guess is the AM60 is mostably a 3 way design with the 4 lower mid basses below operating/modeled as one bigger woofer with the upper one as a pure midrange.
woofer sensistivity is 3 dB more for every cone added. ) so this woofer in effect would be 9 dB more at low freq Not taking account of crossover losses or other effects like baffle diffraction and wall/floor reinforcement.
Since the cones are small and the baffle is very narrow for the woofer a full 6 dB plus is required over the mid at upper band,. I'm sure there is not much attenuation in the mid for that design if the all drivers are equal. Besides attenuation is Not such a bad thing really ;0 it gives some adjustment range for tolerences and tastes.

TMM designs using 2 identical mid basses are much easier to design with both cones operating over the same low frequencies and VC's connected in parallel giving up to full 6 dB BSC ( in series only 3 dB baffle step is possible) yes much easer to get right and more elegent in some ways.
