Default Seaking inexpensive alternatives to European drivers

I started building speakers around 4-5 years ago when the dollars were still having some decent values but now due to the Fed printing press going overdrive, some of the drivers such as Scanspeak, Seas, ... are so expensive. Has anyone tried any other types of drivers that are not so expensive but with good quality?

Try HiVi and Dayton RS series at Parts Express. They are not in the same class as Scanspeak but quite good for the price. Actually, Scanspeak and Seas have a lower price range now. Check out the Scanspeak Discovery and Seas Prestige at Madisound.

SB Acoustics seem to be getting a small following / DIYers trying out their drivers.

haven't tried them, but Wavecor drivers seem to be good bang-fer-buck..
(another bunch of ex-tymphany engineers, as are SB I think...)

Usher woofers, particularly the 8945A & 8945P, are about half the price of comparable Scan Speaks with virtually identical performance, and are on sale from time to time at PartsExpress.
