Question 2 Way X-over Design help

Hi,
I would like to build a 2-way system consisting of the hivi tn28 and tweeter and hivi m5a as woofer. I was thinking of x-over of about 3500hz. I would just like some advice on things to do with the x-over things like dealing with the cone break and BSC. This is my third build, so i am not entirely new to it
Any advice on how to go about it ?
Thanks
Jay

To deal with AL cone break up, the usual solution is a series notch filter:
http://www.diyaudioandvideo.com/Calc...otch/Help.aspx

(although that site is quite wrong (& it’s repeated on other Car Audio sites) to say that “ Series Notch Filters are designed to dampen driver resonance at its resonance frequency Fs ”)

For BSC, the LP inductor is sized according the frequency determined by your cabinet width: http://www.quarter-wave.com/General/BSC_Sizing.pdf

Hi Jay

I tried the M5a at 3,500Hz before. Was too much trouble. Too near the cone breakup.

Went lower to 2,500Hz. No problem with cone breakup. More details can be found at ROBIN
