Default New Years Resolution, build speakers

OK I know I still have some unfinished projects on the go, but my old system takes up too much room and SWMBO wants me to use my birthday present from last year before the cockroaches eat them.

I'm asking for help from some fellow Aussies as I need to use the drivers I already have and want to make as few mistakes as possible with construction and XO.
Room is small, 5M wide 4M deep and we have to use the long wall.

Midrange has to be the Vifa P-13 and SWMBO bought me 4 so MTM is the plan.

I have the choice of either Vifa D27-45-06 or the Vifa DN26 (old type ) or I could spring for a new tweeter if it was going to be of benefit.

My biggest problem is deciding on how many of the Jaycar 10inch woofers to use and how to configure the bass box.

I have 3 pairs of the Jaycar CW2137 bass driver plus 1 pair of the original CW10 carbon fibre bass driver which is wound either 4 or 8 ohms.

Baffle step baffles me so help needed there, these will be mounted close to the back wall and space considerations mean either sealed box or a less than ideal size for ported, I haven't done any thinking about other bass boxes yet and I am getting a bit of stick about the huge subwoofer sitting in the corner ( 200L box with the Kicker 15 )

I am open to any and all reasonable suggestions, the easier and simpler the better.

My first thought would be to build a set of Lynn Olson's ME2 in a sealed version and use the Jaycar drivers underneath them from 120Hz or so down. You will need a new set of tweeters though, but for that, you get a well developed (and damn good sounding) speaker with xovers already done.

I'd just biamp with the jaycar drivers on their own amp.

Thanks Brett
I have been thinking about this particular project too hard and for too long, but the ME-2 was on the top of the list of inspirations along with the Paul Carmody "Eathers"

SWMBO wants her lounge-room back so compactness is a priority.
I will Bi-amp ( or Tri-amp ) that isn't a great problem.

I just have my doubts about a single PP Jaycar woofer keeping up the SQ if driven to reasonable levels, and the box for the CF cone version starts to get a little large for really good WAF.

Unfortunately the Scan-Speak D2905/9500 is just too expensive at the moment, until I find a new job anyway.

I know nothing about the Jaycar drivers. Details incl T/S and your ideas so far on enclosures for them would be helpful, then lets see what we can work out. LF box volumes and limiting dimensions would be great too.

As for the Scans, PM coming.

Thanx for the input and all the offers fellas, as I'm going with my existing tweeters I guess this is going to be a sort of classic design.

Lots of published XOs for P13 / D27, I'm wondering on the sonic difference people say they here with 2nd and 3rd order tweeter high pass designs.
I don't here definite a sonic signature on the 3rd orders I have done on tweeters and wonder whether the extra complexity is needed.
Also I cannot come to a definite conclusion on whether to run the pair of P13s in parallel or series.

Please offer your opinions and advice. it will help to clarify things in my mind, even if I wind up building something different.

It has been a full year since I actually completed anything and I'm frustrated and anxious to start.

Regards
Ted

P13's have smooth roll off, so 2nd order should be OK? Running them parallel will mean less padding to match the tweeters - more efficiency
Re: BSC, Rod Elliot has a good article explaining it, but his solution is not conventional:
Baffle Step Compensation
re:'how many of the Jaycar 10inch woofers to use and how to configure the bass box.'
well, if you bi-amp, no problem in matching the p13s efficiency... box depends on T/S parameters, IIRC those Jaycar drivers are quite high Q so may need a large box? (or go OB?) - the CW10 carbon fibre might be good by themselves (I have an 8" one)...

Default Keeping box volume low ...

Since you have multiple woofers, is it worth considering going isobaric? ie halve the box volume.

cheers

Doug

Here is pix of driver performance as calculated by JBs box program, sealed isn't the deepest with the polycone but there are ways of getting deep bass in small boxes without using a LT
