Hi Ladies(?) and Gents,
I recently built a pair of stand-mount speakers using some pretty expensive drivers. Although they're about as good as anything else I've ever heard I'm pretty bored of them and, well... the bass kinda sucks. SO... I'm looking to build a pair of floor standing speakers that will hopefully perform a lot better than my current stand mounts. Here's what I have: Scan Speak D2904/71000 x2 Scan Speak 18W/8531G00 x2 I also have a number of exotic crossover components I'd like to utilize if possible including: Mundorf 10uF x2 Mundorf 6.8uF x2 Alpha-Core 0.82mH x2 Alpha-Core 0.33mH x2 Duelund Resistors - 1.8 Ohm x2 Duelund Resistors - 6.8 Ohm x2 Does anyone know any designs that are very sucessful? I'm not afraid of woodworking and I don't mind buying additional drivers if I need to. I enjoy Jazz, Blues, Classical and Folk music. Any ideas? Thanks Chris

Thanks for that - I'll take a look.
The woofers are the problems as the woofers have zero umph!

The 18W should have decent umph. They won't play 20Hz well, but I have been pleasantly impressed down to the 30hz region with the 4ohm version.

Revelator and zero umph don't go in the same sentence together! The 18W belies it's size, and will go solidly into the 30's in room.
Zaph has data for both the 18W and the D2904 on his site. You can use that to model and probably get very close without any measurement tools. Here's a great design that should translate well to your plan - Humble Homemade Hifi |

The humble homemade hifi design looks quite good. Everyone seems to say how good the 8531G00 is so I'm definately going to redesign the speakers.
Transmission Line looks interesting. If anyone has any other designs that suit this driver combo well please let me know Thanks Chris

Hi
The HHH Optimo uses the 4 Ohm version. Try this: Scan Speak bouwtekeningen Or: Add a 12M/4631 and make an Ekta: 3½
