Default Speaker cabinet for 4x Tang Band W6-789?

http://www.fidelityforce.com/daniel/TangBandW6-789.pdf

I'm trying to build speakers with each cabinet having 4 of the Tang Band W6-789 woofers (series, parallel for 8 ohms). Can't guess the cabinet volume or size or type. Then, of course, some kind of crossover and tweeters.
Any suggestions?

Unibox suggests 290L tuned to 42 Hz; if you want a reasonable sized box then isobaric would get you down to 80L....

50L @ 45Hz isobaric looks doable...

Default Tb-w6-789

This driver requires a lot of volume to play down low.... Like 3 plus cu. ft. ported alignment per driver... tuned in the mid 30's. Even sealed you need a cu. ft. per driver plus to get it into the .7 to .8 QTC operating range. This will give you a -3db in the mid 60's and that's it. The cost of it's efficiency. This is based on WT-3 measurements and the usual box software simulations and experience.

I can verify that. The driver will play low, and sound nice. But it needs a big box.
Lovely midrange.

maybe good to use them as a TMMWW 2.5way then, along the lines of the Elsinore?

Hi Pete!

My reason for using four of them per cabinet is. . . output power. Question: Doesn't Isobaric hinder output power?

Perhaps I made an error in assuming that 8 (for stereo) or 12 (for trio--busy people don't sit in "only" the listening chair), would possibly make for prodigious output in high fidelity? If so, just mention it (I don't really know speakers, thus the reason to purchase "easy" speaker drivers).

So, the purchase was just a guess, and hope, and find out. . . if a lot of these "prosound midranges" could do it without adding woofers.

If it helps the bass output, my house is small, so there is great interest employing the otherwise useless space that is the "corner" where wall and ceiling meet. That's about a 7 sided box, however 2 of the sides would be about 6" or maybe more, 2 of the sides are the almost triangle shaped ends, and the remaining 3 sides (main panels) could be much larger.

Here's the source:
NEW 7.1 Channel VIA PCI Sound Card PC Audio Controller - eBay (item 290374720446 end time Dec-26-09 13:54:47 PST)

A hole is drilled in the bracket to add a gromett and an RCA cable that goes directly to connect underneath the large caps that are right back of the green jack for DC output. This can go to an isolation transformer or a more optimal selection of capacitor (either way, can block the DC) before it goes into the amplifier or preamp.

Although completely lacking frills and containing no onboard preamp, the Via Tremor has most of the audio performance of the M-Audio sound cards (that we all talk about), which are both based on the same technology.

Although such elaborate means aren't required for MP3's (just better caps will do it), the extra compressed MP4's (including AAC, iTunes, movies, NetRadio, etc) may be nicer through a vacuum tube, especially for people who would otherwise suffer headaches from MP4's. So, it can be nice to choose your own preamp.

Approximately ten times smaller price for the sound card, is nice too.

Meanwhile. . . back to speakers. Do I need woofers?

If you still ask yourself ...why don't you sum all the drivers areas ? if you follow the TMMWW way , the two on the bottom would suffice for proper <SPL,alignement,etc.>.
Otherwise (and wisely ! ) why not going with 2" (or 3" ,but fast ) little speakers that wouldn't even need a tweeter , allowing the lower freq range to be handled by a subwoofer ,or two ?
