$300 speakers to pair with Marantz 2235B?
I am looking for a pair of speakers around $300. I bought the Marantz 2235B off of e-bay a few days ago, because I wanted to get into vinyl and wanted to get a good vintage receiver. Anyways, I wasn't thinking about them only having 35WPC when I bought then, and I think that will severely limit my speakers.
I have looked into getting the Paradigm Atoms or Energy RC-10, but someone recently suggested DIY speakers. I have built my own amps and stuff before, and my grandfather has a pretty full woodshop in his basement so I pretty much have the tools and experience to build them.
I am looking for something that is pretty efficient. I guess they don't really need to be efficient, I just don't know an efficiency point that will give me decent volume. I would like them to be loud enough for our small parties, but I think that is unrealistic. I looked at some of Zaph Audio's designs and like them really well. I am just afraid that they may not be efficient enough judging by the graphs. The room is only about 15x15.
It will be used for small amounts of gaming, occasional movies, and a wide variety of music from progressive rock to hip-hop and rap.
Keep in mind that I am currently living with a JVC stereo that I bought when I was a kid. I tolerate them, because I have my Denon D-2000 phones in my room, but I want to get into vinyl and share it with people.
