Default I have the box... so now what???

Hello,

I have some old (MASH PRO 45) 3way compression loudspeakers. I tought that I could replace the old drivers with some new ones and make them sound good on my DENON PMA-655R witch is a 8 Ohm 50W amp.

I looked around the net but I'm not... you know, good with the math.
So here are the internal dimensions:

H 462mm(18.1inch)
W 242mm(9.5inch)
D 165mm(6.4inch)
17L volume

with drivers:
75mm(3inch)
100mm(4inch)
205mm(8inch)
The holes are centered.

And if any of you know of a project with a similar configuration and can point to some drivers and maybe even a crossover...

Well it will be just grate...
If not, I don't mind if you ignore me. But thanx for reading anyway.

this design will fit that box.... Zaph|Audio - ZA-SR71
(It's usual to select the drivers first, & then design the box)

And the question is why?

+1 on select drivers first, then the box, particurally when MDF is only $18! Perhaps salvage other innards from the old box.

I just finished building the SR-71 and very pleased. Altered slightly as I built the crossover rather than ordering the prebuilt kit. Below could be said for virtually and other speaker as well, particurally with the 3 different size holes would rule out all MTM's.

On the old box, the 18.1" (15.2" spec) height and 9.5" (9" spec) width are OK but the 6.4" (10" spec) is way too shallow to support the internal port of the SR-71. Plus you have to create a new from baffle anyway converting from a 3 way to a 2 way. Pick the drivers, then build the box (or select a premade).

The more I look around, the more I see the truth in your words.

And since I'm unable to do any wood work (no tools and no friend with tools), I will have to lean towards a more radical solution; replace the speakers completely.

I fancy B&W 685.

Ill keep this project alive tough.
