Default Waveguide easily purchased?

I have built a two way system using a 18 Sound XT 1086+NSD1095N and a Beyma SM112N. I feel that I would like to try a different waveguide though and I have tried to find a good one but as soon as I find one it seems impossible to buy it. Does anyone have an advice on a good waveguide for my system that can actually be purchased? Somewhere I read about QSC but where do I buy them?

Thankful for your input!

What about these...
Dayton Audio - Dayton Professional - Speaker Components - Waveguides
As I remember, Intertechnik.de sells em. Just check on their website for their local distributors. Maybe you find some. The 12" seems to be the one.

I'll be doing some work with the 12" dayton in the near future, primarily focused around the edge termination, wall strengthening, and HOM reduction in the throat via geddes-styled foam.

Yes, you are right. They seem interesting. How do I attach a 1 inch bolt on driver? Are there any adapters available?

I'm using the Dayton 12" one. It's a decent WG with an uncolored and open sound, but there's a major problem in the throat. It's not 1" as nominal claim, actually 29mm. So you got a 2mm ring style "step" right at the exit of driver. Some work has to be done here to make it a more refined device.

I modded (enlarged) the inner bore of the straight plastic adaptor for Eminence APT tweeter to fit that 29mm throat of WG. It's relatively easy to work with. If the driver's exit can not be enlarged, then the WG's entrance must be shrinked. I guess that's much harder to get right. (adding extra materials, boring it to the correct size, and shaping it to the right contour.... geez! )

For most drivers with bolt-on mounting, same problem (or even worse). And most [1-3/8" to bolt-on] adaptors just suck! They tend to have a long straight passage to maintain 'correct' size on both ends. This alone brakes the continuity of the entire flare.

And then the 2mm step. If we're going to mod such an adaptor (to fit this WG), than the exit should be 29mm in diameter, and the entrance angle should be coherent with the driver's throat, with a smooth contour connecting both end.... I don't know if it's possible to get a 'right' contour, I'd imagine just 'smooth' is not easy already....

Here's the link to the waveguide used in QSC's 2 way. They have been on backorder for awhile but I just got my shipment. You won't believe the price and I am impressed with the product.

I used the Dayton HR10RW with the Selenium ADM25-25 adapter on a B&C DE10-8 (bought from PartsExpress) stuffed with a Dr Geddes bit of foam. I had to build the back of the waveguide up with car body filler and smooth the transition of the throat using putty. It turned out really well.

That's interesting, how did you get the filler consistent/even?

Hi col,

Do you find something wrong the Selenium adaptor? It's larger at the entrance (driver's side) and smaller at the exist (horn side). Mated with the Dayton's WG, there's a 2mm wide ring style step between the adpator and throat of WG.

I gave up (using) that adaptor because of this I still have it, but I won't use it before major mods.
